Musically, the first half of the year has been involved with the Chepstow Male Voice Choir. They have had memorable concerts where the audience has been very appreciative. The personal highlight was to be given the opportunity to accompany their talented soloist Miss Sarah Gilford for the early summer concert at St Mary’s Church, Chepstow. Her music gave much pleasure to the audience and choir. I have put together a few snippets from three solos to show how beautiful she sang and how I played. The snippets are from Ynys s Plant by ET Davies, Mozart and Lehar Every Kiss On My Lips is Like Wine.
A memorable moment from 2016 was on Saturday April 9th at Llandogo village hall. My piano pupil Roseanna was the soloist for the choir at a charity concert. She played the beautiful violin theme from Schindler’s List and thrilled all who attended. See video.
In June I was presented with the Stuart Vigus Salver for outstanding commitment to the choir. A great honour.
National Eisteddfod of Wales 2016
I was pleased to be invited to accompany Gabriel Tranmer at the Under 16’s brass class at the National Eisteddfod of Wales 2016. The standard of entries was superb and in my opinion, Gabriel gave a first class performance of the first movement of The Tuba Concerto by Edward Gregson in the authentic style as played by the late John Fletcher , to whom the piece was dedicated. Congratulations on a very accomplished performance given by a multi talented musical individual.
